It was founded by the Yeoyang Jin Clan in the 17th century, when they sought to settle down and call it their home. According to a tale passed down from the Yeoyang Jin family, a mysterious rock appeared one morning on the shores of Galnam Beach. It was covered in abalones, and they knew they had found a special place, rich in seafood and abundant with life.
So, they decided to make Galnam Village their home.
"I found it a good place to live because it is rich in seafood, so I ended up living in Galnam Village."
In the 1940s and 1950s, Galnam was a bustling hub, attracting those seeking to catch pollack and gather seaweed. The village was so sought-after, there were no vacancies, and it earned more than any other nearby fishing villages.
Nowadays, Galnam is a quiet sea village, but it remains full of secrets and stories from its centuries of life by the sea. Its people are proud of their rich history and their connection to the ocean, and they invite you to come explore the hidden tales of Galnam.
